Finalist in the “La Place est Libre” competition organised by Cycle Up, this project explores how reclaimed materials can be used to create a social, compact and easily replicable structure.

The project proposes a temporary luggage storage and rest facility for people experiencing homelessness, designed to fit within the footprint of a single parking space. Conceived as a transitional space within the urban environment, this micro-architecture provides a temporary place of respite while addressing several essential everyday needs.

The facility includes two individual cabins offering privacy, rest and a moment of retreat, as well as large secure lockers for the temporary storage of luggage and personal belongings. A dedicated mail reception area completes the programme, providing an essential point of contact for people experiencing extreme precarity.

 

The entire project was designed using a catalogue of reclaimed materials, with the aim of making use of existing resources and limiting the use of new materials.

 

Through a minimal intervention in terms of its footprint, the project seeks to transform an ordinary urban space into a shared resource, combining reuse, modularity and social value.
